The game is pretty funny when you get to a point of have a huge technological advantage but still losing small battles due to the underlying game mechanics, i.e. an attack helicopter dying to some enemy pikemen.
I’m playing through my first game of Civ VI and while the basics are familiar there are some important differences, although it’s still very fun to learn and play.

That was my #1 complaint in vanilla Civ V. So glad they fixed it in Gods and Kings

Doesn’t appear to be an issue in Civ VI at all; more powerful units still take damage at times when there’s an obvious tech gap, but it’s a superficial amount.
